Immediately after the fire our community came together with an outpouring of support. Gift cards, money and clothing were being left at the fire and at community members houses. It quickly became overwhelming in those first few weeks to manage the donations and relocating from hotel to hotel room while trying to keep a routine with work, camp and sports. So many community members stepped up to help and organize donations. Two gofundme pages were set up and a gift card service. The support was unbelievable and greatly needed at the time.

We had insurance for the house, emergency housing and property as well as some savings but the losses and future losses far exceeded the amounts. Most of the cost have to be covered up front. Insurance did eventually release partial funds for property and after several months of paying for hotels they did reimburse our stays. We continue to purchase replacement items in advance and submit for reimbursement which may take another year. If we don’t replace within the 2 yr time frame we get a depreciated cost which will be determined when the inventory is complete and approved. For the rebuild, the insurance did pay the maximum allowed under the policy for the home rebuild which went straight to mortgage company escrow and has yet to be released as of Jan 2024. The design we choose for the house kept the same square footage, however, the rebuild cost is several 100K more than the building coverage.

We continue to use the gofundme to cover noninsurance covered expenses related to the fire and loss and secure contractors to expedite the work which allows us to keep debt down while we wait for reimbursements. While we have asked all donations sites to be shutdown you can continue to support us by clicking on affiliate links and making purchases of items we recommend and that you like when the new business is up and running. A small commission will come to us. As we build up our affiliates, please provide feedback to help our product recommendations grow. I will also be adding training services for building digital market platforms for those who would like to try a similar project sharing their own interest.

Without the generous support of the local businesses, community, friends and family we wouldn’t have been able to make it through this far and continue to press forward with the rebuild.
